January 2020 Fishing Report

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT 1/11/2020

Kind of the same thing happening with an added bonus. Black drum and puppies at the jetties. Sharks at the point and blowtoads on the southern beaches. The bonus would be speckled trout. Here is a nice on brought into the shop today. Caught by anonymous fisherwoman.
FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT 1/09/2020
I fished the last two days and caught plenty of fish. Lots of under size black drum with a few keepers and the occasional puppy drum. There are still some blowtoads around and of course the spiney dogfish. Southwest winds coming so should keep the water warm. Air temperatures will be in the 60s for the next week. So fishing should continue to be OK. We still have plenty of bait so stop in and see us.

Beautiful day here on the island. Their has been plenty of fish holding tight with these warm waters. Puppy drum north of Buxton and black drum at the jetties. Sharks at the point and blowtoads at ramp 55. Supposed to have some wind tomorrow but back into the upper 60s the rest of the week. We will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday and will reopen on Thursday. Stop on in for some fresh shrimp and other selection of bait.

A little cooler today on the island but warmer weather still in the upcoming forecast. The southern beaches are holding some very warm water and that is the key to this time of the year. Ask any experienced fisherman or woman and they are watching the water temps. Because of this they are catching sea mullet and blowtoads. Everywhere else seems to be those pesky spiney dogfish. We have bait and will remain open throughout the winter.

FRANK & FRANS HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT 1/03/2020

Just a beautiful 70 degree day here in Avon. I have heard reports of blowtoads and a few sea mullet on the southern beaches. Still some puppy drum and black drum around the jetties. And of course the sharks are still hanging out around the point. We do have fresh shrimp and an asortment of other bait.

Kind of a pattern with the black drum and puppy drum. Lots of dog fish and some big sharks st the point. if your going to fish the point bring lots of tackle. There has been a bonus of reports of a few sea mullet around. We do have fresh shrimp and all your tackle needs. Warmer weather coming again so come and catch some fish.‚Äč
