Hatteras-Island.com is powered by Frank & Fran’s Bait & Tackle, a family-owned and operated business located in Avon, NC, at the heart of Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks. Since 1988, Frank & Fran’s has been the go-to destination for anglers, beach lovers, and visitors seeking expert local advice, top-quality fishing gear, and an unbeatable selection of fresh bait and tackle.

In 2016, the shop was proudly purchased by Heather & Tim James and Stephanie & Randy Bayne, who have continued the tradition of excellent customer service and community spirit that Frank & Fran Folb started.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple:
To serve Hatteras Island anglers and visitors with the best products, local knowledge, and hospitality possible.

We believe that a day on Hatteras Island should be memorable, whether you’re chasing red drum, speckled trout, cobia, or Spanish mackerel, relaxing with a fine cigar on the beach, or simply enjoying the beauty of this special place.

We proudly support our local non-profit community including Hatteras Meals on Wheels, Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, Cape Hatteras Food Pantry and various Veteran's fishing tournaments.

The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association Red Drum Tournament is hosted at Frank & Fran's each October.
