The best bait to use is a loaded question and an even bigger answer. Baits preferred on Hatteras Island range from fresh baits like mullet, shrimp, menhaden (bunker), and spot to a variety of frozen baits like squid, mullet, clams, crab, and even synthetic baits like fish bites or other soft plastics.
