FRANK AND FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT-06/23/2018

Those who didn't get blown off the beach today may have actually caught a fish here and there. Unfortunately due to the strong and increasing winds throughout the day, the water has really gotten dirty. Also, unfortunate, is the wind is predicted to stay strong throughout tomorrow and potentially calm down a bit on Monday.

For today, Rodanthe Pier reported Sea Mullet, Trout, Croaker and Spanish. Salvo saw only Skates while Avon Pier and Avon Beaches were pretty slow throughout the day with most of the catching of Sea Mullet and Spanish being done this morning. Buxton area was slow with very little to report. Frisco Ramps 48 and 49 had several Pompano and Sea Mullet. Hatteras was also slow with dirty water, however, several Bluefish were caught out at the Inlet and a few of the Inshore Boats were able to snag a few Cobia!

Remember, you can't catch anything without a line in the water!

Schools out for Summer!! At least on Hatteras Island! What a beautiful day, it was here today! Tomorrow forecast looks to be another great day, with possible storms headed our way for Sunday thru Tuesday! But of course, on Hatteras, if you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.....and it will change!

As for fishing today, we've had very mixed reports! Some have said "the Ocean is Broken", others have had great luck once they found that lucky spot!

Rodanthe Pier reported a great day of Sea Mullet, Flounder, Sheepshead, Spadefish, Pompano, Spanish AND Cobia! Whew! Salvo seemed to only have some baby Sharks. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day on the island today! Fishing was a bit slower than it has been but seems to have picked up this evening as the sun goes down!

Rodanthe Pier reports Flounder, Puppy Drum, Blues and Spanish while Salvo saw Puppy Drum and small sharks. Avon Beach and Avon Pier both seem to have been slow this morning and afternoon with the catching picking up now and including Spanish, Blues and Sea Mullet. The Point, though closed to ORV traffic, is still open for walking and fishing and has had some great evenings of Spanish and Blues being caught. Frisco reported a slow day with only some skates being reported. Hatteras saw Pompano, Sea Mullet and small Blues!

The weather has been amazing the past few days (minus the midnight time storms). Evenings have been great for a beach fire with friends and family! Don't forget your F&F S'mores Kit, Blazing Buddy, Bundles of Firewood and a Fire Permit!

Congrats to Cody Howard of Lancaster, OH on the catch of a Red Drum from Avon Beach last evening! Thanks for sharing!

It seems like the catch of the day on the surf side was Pompano, Sea mullet, and Croaker. Up and down the island. The best bait has been cut bait, shrimp, and sand fleas

Frank and Fran's Hatteras Island Fishing Report - 7/27/2018.

Frank and Fran's Hatteras Island Fishing Report - 07/23/2018

Its been one of those off and on kind of days where one minute its full on sun and the next its raining sideways, mostly raining! So that means that the fishing was also mostly off and unfortunately there is very little to report. Due to the rough conditions the Rodanthe Pier had nothing to report and will be closing early today. Salvo was able to pull in a few Sea Mullet and Puppy Drum both ocean side. Avon Beaches only reported a few Sea Mullet. Avon Pier closed at 2pm due to rough conditions and had nothing to report from the early part of the day. However, here's to hoping for better weather and better fishing tomorrow! Until then, come in and get a new Chasertini cup and enjoy a cold beverage!

Congratulations to Steve Lambert on his catches from yesterday. Thanks for sharing Steve and love your shirt!

The Point is OPEN! THE POINT IS OPEN! Woohoo!
Things are beginning to get back to normal here on the island as many families returned home and business owners were able to open back up and be ready for all of our friends to arrive!
We're ready here at F&F to help you in any way we can! Fresh Bloodworms and Shrimp as well as an assortment of frozen baits are all available while we await some fresh mullet! Please remember that many of our commercial fisherman moved their boats away from the island in preparation for Florence. Some have just returned this evening! For that reason, we hope to have fresh bait as soon as they're able to be back fishing!
As for surf fishing, the big news of the day is BLUES! Some even up to 18"! They're being caught off of bluefish rigs OR Sting Silvers! Don't know what those in, come on in and let us help!
The Avon Pier will reopen tomorrow! Unfortunately, the Rodanthe Pier is unsure of a reopen date at this time! We'll keep you posted! See you soon!

Beautiful and oddly calm day on the island today! Winds have been almost flat throughout the day but will begin to rise steadily throughout the week! Due to high tides, Rodanthe Pier closed early this evening. Please check their facebook page for opening times. Folks are continuing to catch Sea Mullet, Pompano, Blues and Spanish throughout the island. There has been a decent Drum bite in the sound as the sun goes down and dead dark! Find a hole and cast some fresh mullet out to those guys! Or try a weedless spoon!
As we prepare for the storm, things in the shop are going up higher on the shelves, but we still welcome everyone (except Florence)!

See you tomorrow at 6am!

Been back to work now for a week, but our week vacation October 12th through the 19th was excellent. Caught plenty of Blues Pompano sea mullet couple of black drum had to throw them back. Our number one stop on the Outer Banks for fishing is Frank and Fran's. They have the best variety of fresh baits and Top Notch gear for beginners and old timers. They set me up with a great 11 ft rod that helps me get the distance I need to be Competitive. Frank and Fran's has the expertise and everything else you need for fishing on the Outer Banks I'll be back in November thanks again. I don't smile much but when I do it's because I just left Frank and Fran's!

Thanks Walt for the great note! Looking forward to seeing you on your next visit!

We are continually looking for new products to keep things fresh at the shop. What to know what is new at the shop? We are now carrying the Ninja Tackle Dagger rods. They are flying out of the shop and we are getting great reviews on them. Stop in and check them out!

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 10/20/18

Today was quite a mix of weather, I'm pretty sure Mother Nature had no idea what she really wanted today! The Capital City Four Wheelers Tournament is well underway and we have had a great showing of anglers here in our shop weighing in their catches! We've had anything from 2oz Spots to 6lb 14oz Drum! Great Job to all the anglers! Keep it up and best of luck tomorrow!

As for the rest of our fishing report we've had a great day of Sea Mullet, Puppy Drum, Spot, Croaker, Black Drum and a few Croaker throughout the island!

Tomorrow winds are supposed to be anywhere from 20-40mph, make sure you pay attention to any rising water on the soundside and remember that the vast majority of ANY water here on the roads on the island is SALT WATER! This means the entire island is a NO WAKE ZONE! Be polite to your break lines and the vehicles of others and slowly creep thru any puddles!!

Fresh Mullet, Shrimp, Bloodworms, Squid, Sand Fleas and more are all available and will be ready for you tomorrow at 6am - 9pm!

Until then, enjoy some of the great catches shared with us by anglers in the CCFW 2018 Tournament!

FRANK AND FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/14/18

Brrr...today was a windy and chilly day on the island making for rough fishing conditions but some were brave enough to head out to the beach.

The point had reports of big drum and sharks.

Navy Vet Denise Good caught the 21 1/2" black drum in Hatteras Village this morning on shrimp Fishbites.

Terry Eaton landed a keeper, 16 inch flounder in Frisco.

Tomorrow is going to be another wet one. We have some rain gear in stock, hoodies and gloves to help you keep warm. You can also stop in for a free cup of hot coffee.

FRANK AND FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/13/18 -
Luckily the day didn't end up as much of a washout as it was reported to be. We did have severe storms as well as a tornado warning early this morning, but luckily when that all moved along, the sun came out and fisherman hit the beaches!

Rodanthe Pier reported a 50" Drum caught this evening! Avon Pier also had several Large Drum caught today as well as a few Bluefish! Avon Beaches were very rough and had only a few Sea Mullet and Pups reported. Of course, the Point had its share of action with the Large Drum this evening as well. Unfortunately we have nothing to report for Frisco or Hatteras!

Christmas is only 42 Days Away! Are you ready? Stop in and grab some stocking stuffers for your Angler! Or even a new Sleigh, I mean Kayak!

FRANK AND FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/12/18

Certainly hope everyone enjoyed today as tomorrow is going to be a washout for us! Today has been another decent day of fishing with slot Puppy Drum and Citation Sea Mullet throughout the island. There were also Blues, Flounder and Blowtoads mixed in. Flounder have been being caught VERY well down at Ramp 55 in Hatteras!

We were again lucky enough to weigh in and write citations for several of the Sea Mullets this evening! Congratulate Pat Calvert and her husband Martin Calvert on their catches! Pat's weighed in at 2lbs 1oz and 1lb 12oz, Martin's was 2lbs 11oz! Next we have Darrell Penny with his 2lbs 1oz and 1lb 15oz catches as well as John Glasgow with his 2lbs 8oz and 2lb 7oz catches! These were all caught on the beaches in Avon!

Congrats to all and thanks for sharing! Fresh Mullet and Bunker both arrived this evening for those willing to get out there tomorrow! See you soon!

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/8/18

Very rough today but still pretty good fishing. Lots and lots of blues today. A few small sea mullet, some drum, and a couple of blow toads.

We just got a lot of fresh mullet in as well, 600lbs of it! Some stop by and pick up some fresh bait.

Also, good luck to all the anglers in the tournament!

FRANK AND FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/5/18

Crappy weather day here today as the wind, rain, sun and clouds were all competing to win out the day. Fortunately, the fishing was still good! Rodanthe Pier reported another good day of Sea Mullet, Blues, Flounder and Drum. Avon Pier had about the same with a few Black Drum as well. Avon Beaches saw Sea Mullet, Blues, Black Drum and Blowtoads! Behind the motels in Buxton as well as the Point pulled in Puppy Drum as well as large Drum throughout the day. Frisco reported Sea Mullet and a few Puppy Drum and Hatteras had a day of Blues!

Fresh Bait continues to arrive daily, sometimes several times a day! We've continued to be lucky to weigh in citation Sea Mullet and fill out Citations for BIG Drum! Congrats to our customers pictured below with their great catches!

Don't forget we have some awesome Year-End specials on VIBE Kayaks and all Kayak Accessories! Stop in and check them out! Fall hours continue to be 6am - 7pm!

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/4/18

Yep, it was another day that surely didn't feel like November! Whoohoo! I'll take these milder days for as LONG as possible! If fact, I'd like to put in my official order for NO WINTER this year! So, for those of you planning on some sort of ceremonial snow dance......you'll have to meet up with Heather in secret!

Fishing was somewhat rough today, however, there were still plenty of fish being caught. Sea Mullet, Blues and small Black Drum take awards for today with a few Pompano, Flounder and Puppy Drum mixed in! Fresh Bait continues to come in daily, several times a day, actually!

We'd like to welcome all the anglers here already and headed here to take part in the Cape Hatteras Anglers ClubTournament on Thursday and Friday of this week! We wish you all luck and tight lines!

Don't forget to stop in get your Ginger Rigs, Sliders, River Rigs, Frog Tongues, Waders and everything else you need to be Tournament Ready!

Hunter Selby of Bishopville, MD caught this 1lb 7oz, 16" Sea Mullet! Congratulations Hunter and thanks for sharing!

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT - 11/2/18

I sure do wish I had better news to report but with the really crappy weather and wind today the ocean was ROUGH to say the least! When folks are coming in and saying the ocean is all but spitting Sputniks back at them, its ROUGH! Fingers crossed these winds die down for tomorrow!

Everywhere on the island whether at the Piers or the beaches all had rough conditions. Rodanthe Pier only had a few small Flounder, a few Sea Mullet and 1 large Drum brought in. Avon Pier had a few Black Drum, Blues, Spot and Sea Mullet. Avon Beaches had small Blues and Sea Mullet. Not much of anything was reported down in Buxton or Frisco and Hatteras saw a few Blues and Pompano in the surf and a few Puppy Drum behind the Coast Guard Station!

Luckily, the Rice Family made it back in town last night and have provided us with some great photos of their catches last night. These were caught sound side at ramp 53, 6lb. Red and 4 1/2lb. Trout! They're off to a great start! CONGRATS and keep the photos coming!

FRANK & FRAN'S HATTERAS ISLAND FISHING REPORT- 11/1/18

With a high of 78 today it surely didn't feel like November 1st, but as for me, Stephanie, it could stay in the 70's all year! Heather, on the other hand likes her colder weather and snow.....I say BOOOO! Keep the warm weather coming! Apparently the fish seemed like like today's weather as well as there were plenty being caught!

Rodanthe Pier had a mix of Blues, Specs, Sea Mullet, Puppy Drum and 1 - 45" Drum and another 49" Drum! Salvo and Avon Beaches saw a great number of citation Sea Mullet today. We were lucky enough to weigh in 7 here this evening! James Price and Walter Arehart graciously allowed us to get their photo while friend of Frank & Fran's Fisherman's Friend, Larry Hart has so many citations, he just wanted to weigh his in! Congrats to all!

Buxton saw Blues, Flounder and a few Pups while Frisco and Hatteras had Specs, Blues, Pompano and a 15lb Black Drum was weighed in down in Hatteras!

Tomorrow's weather is calling for a bit of rain, don't let that deter you from fishing though as there's also going to be a great Southwest wind, which should usher in those Drum! Get some fresh bait and get out there!

Open 6am - 7pm, Daily!
